Stay on Streak is a habit tracker you use with friends. It is run by 14736605 Canada Inc., based in Toronto, Ontario. This policy covers the website at stayonstreak.com and the Stay on Streak apps for iPhone, Android and the web.
The short version: we keep what the app needs to work and what tells us how to make it better, your habits are private unless you share them, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising.
What we collect
- Your account. Your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored as a one-way hash, so nobody can read them. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and an account ID from them instead of a password. If you choose Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only see the relay address Apple gives us.
- What you track. Your habits, their schedules and categories, check-ins, rest days, badges, your time zone and your settings.
- Photos you add. When you add a photo as proof of a habit or a group check-in, we store it. Photos are shrunk and re-saved before they are stored, which removes location and camera details.
- Friends. Who you are friends with, friend requests, and the cheers you send and receive.
- Groups and challenges. The groups you start or join, the days you check them off, and the photos you add to them.
- Safety. Reports you send, reports about you, and the people you block, so we can act on problems.
- Notifications. If you turn on notifications, we store the device token or browser subscription needed to send them. If you turn on email reminders, we use your email address to send them.
- How the app is used. Which screens and steps you reach, such as finishing setup, sharing an invite, joining a group or opening a notification, with the time, the app version and whether it is the iPhone, Android or web app. Before you sign up, this is tied to a random number the app makes up, not to you; once you sign up, it joins your account. It stays on our own servers and is never sent to analytics or advertising companies.
- Crash reports. When the app runs into an error, it sends us the error message, the screen it happened on, the app version, and your phone’s model and system version, so we can fix it.
- Technical data. Our servers briefly log IP addresses and request details to keep the service secure and to stop abuse, such as repeated sign-up attempts. When you open a friend or group link before installing the app, we remember the link against your network for two hours, so the app can offer it once you sign up.
What your friends can see
New habits are private. Friends only see a habit, its streak and its photos if you set that habit to be shared with friends. Friends can see your name and, in the weekly league, your consistency score and number of perfect days. The explanation of what kept your week off 100% is shown only to you.
In a group, everyone in it sees your name and photo, the days you checked the group off, and the photos you add to it. Joining a group by its link makes you friends with everyone in it, so they also see the habits you share with friends. You can remove any friend or leave any group at any time.
Photos are stored at random addresses that cannot be listed or guessed, and the app only shows them to you and the people they are shared with.
How we use it
To run Stay on Streak: to sync your habits across devices, work out streaks and weekly scores, show your friends and groups what you share, send the notifications and reminders you asked for, and keep the service secure. And to improve it: usage counts and crash reports tell us which parts of the app work, where people get stuck, and what to fix. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or show ads.
Who helps us run it
We use a small number of service providers, who handle data only to provide their service to us:
- Fly.io hosts the app and its database. Our servers are in Toronto, Canada.
- Bluehost hosts the stayonstreak.com website and sends reminder emails.
- Google and Apple handle sign-in if you choose them.
- Apple, Google and Expo deliver push notifications to your phone, and your browser’s maker delivers them on the web.
Some of these providers may process data outside Canada, including in the United States. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, habits, check-ins, photos, friend connections, group check-ins and usage records are erased right away; groups you started pass to the next person in them. Usage records that were never tied to an account are deleted after two years. Copies can remain in backups for a limited time until those backups are replaced.
Your choices
- Delete your account at any time in Settings. This erases your data for good.
- Change what friends see on each habit, or remove a friend at any time.
- Leave a group at any time. Your check-ins and photos in it go with you.
- Turn notifications and email reminders off in Settings.
You can also ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing us. We reply within 30 days.
Children
Stay on Streak is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has made an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change applies.
